Alecia Pink Moore was born September 8th, 1979, in Philadelphia.
Influenced by Whitney Houston, Madonna, Eminem, the Supremes, and more
importantly by her father, James Moore, she started out as a hiphopper
and skateboarder, attracted to tattoos and body metal. She was trained
in guitar, grounded in Bob Dylan and Don McLean, and eventually
discovered in a club in Philadelphia while doing her 5-minute bit to
mixed reviews. She auditioned for the short-lived group Basic Instinct,
later found herself in another short-lived group, Choice, and renewed
her hobby of song-writing to much success and acclaim as a solo artist.
Classified alternately as punk and R&B, she has leaned towards songs of
personal experience, rather than love ballads. He debut album, "Can't
Take Me Home", was greeted with critical praise, and her first single,
"There You Go", became a top 40 winner, eventually named number 2
breakup song of all time by a US magazine. Her second single, "Most
Girls", has been well received. Her star continues to rise as fast as
her image changes. Annie Oglypuss, is justifiably, jealous beyond
belief. Just the same, she worships Pink and is kind of hoping nobody
uses the name Purple too quickly, as that's what Ogly would like to call
herself when she gets bigger in the right places, and when she can be
discovered singing as loud as possible in all the wrong places.
We are still waiting for Alecia to overwhelm us and convert the
landscape into a pink world.
